The Norwich Arts Center presents Jim Carpenter and the Hoolios on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Donald L. Oat Theater at 8:00pm.  With their Americana, Rock, Latin and Zydeco grooves, The Hoolios bring a unique blend of music and entertainment to the stage as NAC’s First Friday Live Sounds series continues.

The Hoolios are a diverse group bringing together singer-songwriter Jim Carpenter and a six-piece rock/dance band featuring three lead vocalists, accordion, mandolin, washboard and organ.  The Hoolios’ vast original repertoire — intimate, thought-provoking acoustic sets, hypnotic Reggae and New Orleans-style dance grooves, scathing rock and alt country — have made them favorites among folk houses, dance clubs, Cajun, Country and Rock Festivals.  Jim Carpenter and/or The Hoolios have performed in Miami, Boston, Nashville, Austin and Chicago, in venues such as: the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den, the South Florida Folk Fest, and SailFest.  The band continues to entertain audiences nationwide and are currently busy recording their third CD, tentatively entitled 'BomboGenius.'

The Hoolios include: Jim Carpenter - vocals, guitars; Michael Derry - vocals, piano, organ, accordion; Sandy Allen - harmony vocals, mandolin; Bill Light - harmony vocals, guitar; Mike Palazzolo - harmony vocals, bass; Ronnie Lewis - vocals, drums.

First Friday Live Sounds runs from October through June and features a different artist every month.  Events are BYOB but you can also enjoy refreshments from the Norwich Arts Center’s concession stand.  Tables seat up to eight people, and ticket prices for this event are $20 per person.  To purchase tickets, call the Norwich Arts Center / Donald L. Oat Theatre Box Office at 860-887-2789, or tickets can be purchased through their web site at
