Bjorn Olson

Bjorn Olson began his adventures in art in New York City where, inspired by the work of David Smith, Anthony Caro, Naum Gabo and other modernist sculptors, he switched from painting to sculpture. He then undertook sculpture studies at the Parsons School of Design and the Sculpture Center. That started him on a journey from New York to Connecticut where he works today in steel, wood and plexiglas.

Artist Statement:

Humans are richly endowed with the ability to respond emotionally to aesthetic experience. My work attempts to reach such emotions without use of subject matter or representation. It is similar to music in this respect and hence it may be appropriate to refer to the work as ‘visual music.'
